The Hermes Award, 1992

Awarded to the Center of Research in Regulated Industries by the European Express Association on June 22, 1992, in Munich, Germany

The award was presented to Michael A. Crew and Paul R. Kleindorfer on behalf of  the Center for Research in Regulated Industries by the European Express Association (EEA).  The Hermes Award recognized the Center’s role in two conferences on postal and delivery economics and policy for the 1st and 2nd Conferences on Postal and Delivery Economics (CPDE) and the consequent books: 

  • 1st CPDE: “Competition and Innovation in Postal Services: Conference in Honor of Sir Rowland Hill and The 150th Anniversary of the Penny Post,”  June 22-24, 1990, Rugby England

  • 2nd CPDE “Regulation and the Evolving Nature of Postal and Delivery Services: 1992 and Beyond,” May 18-21, 1992, La Londe les Maures France

  • Competition and Innovation in Postal Services, edited by M.A. Crew and P.R. Kleindorfer, Kluwer Academic Publishers.

  • Regulation and the Evolving Nature of Postal and Delivery Services, edited by M.A. Crew and P.R. Kleindorfer, Kluwer Academic Publishers.

The Conferences were organized by Michael Crew and Linda Brennan of Rutgers University and Paul Kleindorfer of the University of Pennsylvania, in conjunction with a committee representing the major post offices and express carriers.
